The role of this course in Instructional Technology is to assist students in expanding their knowledge and skills in using educational technology while helping them focus on the pedagogical issues relevant to use of technology in teaching and learning. The aim of this course is to provide a current perspective on Instructional Technology within the education field and to have students develop some basic multimedia and communications computing skills. The course focuses on current and emerging theories and practices of using instructional technologies to develop and deliver information in an education/training environment. Students will develop skills in design and production of traditional instructional support materials, presentation support materials and in the use of the computer as a presentation too. This course will prepare individuals to teach environmental education at various educational levels using both formal and informal approaches. It will encourage and facilitate the use and practice of both teaching and learning strategies using a student- centric framework. This course is designed to equip pre-service teachers to engage their students in mathematics through problem solving and investigations. The course places emphasis on advancing pre-service teachers’ mathematical sense through immersion in a problem rich environment. s. Teachers will be exposed to different problem-solving models and numerous problem-solving strategies. The pre-service teachers will also be developing the skills and intuition required to select meaningful tasks and create rich learning experiences for their students. Students will use reflection to determine how the productive struggle and various theories have influenced their own problem-solving experiences.
