The Turks and Caicos Islands Community College was established by Ordinance 25 of 1994 and through this empowered to grant diplomas certificates and other awards as well as to enter into association or affiliation with universities, colleges or other relevant institutions within or outside the islands for the fulfilment of its objectives.
The Turks and Caicos Islands Community College is accredited by the Turks and Caicos Islands Government Ministry of Education, Youth Sports and Culture. It is a member of the Association of Caribbean Tertiary Institutions (ACTI), the Caribbean Association of Quality Assurance in Education (CANQUATE), Association of Higher Education Institutions (ACHEA), Joint Board of Teacher Education (JBTE), and the Council of Community Colleges of Jamaica (CCCJ)
The College also has formal Articulation agreements with the University of Wilberforce in Ohio, the Mount Saint Vincent University in Canada, New England Institute of Technology and the American Intercontinental University in Florida on a two plus two basis (Bachelor Degree completion programme) that assures transferability of Associate Degree graduates from TCICC as third-year students, The Joint Board of Teacher Education.
Several Universities and Colleges in North America and the UK with which there is no formal agreement accept full transfer credits from the TCICC, e.g. ITT, Florida International University, Florida Metropolitan University Florida Atlantic and Mechanical University, Trinity Western University, St Mary’s University, University of Leeds, Leicester University, Howard University, Talladega College and others.
The College delivers programmes in collaboration with the University of the West Indies School of Continuing Studies in Trinidad and a Bachelors Degree Programme from the Wilberforce University and Mount St Vince, University by Distance Education, and offers bachelors degrees with CCCJ/Knox Community College of Jamaica
The Primary Teacher Education Programme is accredited by the Joint Board of Education, University of the West Indies, Mona Jamaica. Efforts are ongoing to establish further links with other accredited regional and International Institutions.
